Estimate Guide
A practical checklist for the files, labels, and questions that make a desk session productive.
Why this guide exists
Most delays in a tax estimate session come from missing exports or unlabeled transfers — not from the math itself. Use this page before you request a consultation.
Files to gather on your desktop
- Trade history CSV or spreadsheet from each exchange you used in the tax year
- Any wallet export or address list you keep for personal transfers
- Prior-year worksheets if you already produced one
- Bank statements covering large purchase dates when exchange history looks thin
- Notes on accounts that closed or changed names mid-year
Labels that save time
- Mark transfers between wallets you control
- Note gifts or receipts that were not purchases
- Flag airdrops or reward lines if your export mixes them with trades
- Keep original filenames; we can rename copies during the session
Questions we will ask
- Which tax year should the estimate cover?
- How many venues appear in your folder?
- Do you already have a draft transaction summary?
- Are you meeting a preparer afterward, or filing materials yourself?
Session paths
| If your files look like… | Start with |
|---|---|
| Several CSVs, no single ledger | Transaction Summary Planning |
| One rough ledger, need numbers | Desktop Tax Estimate Session |
| Draft estimate, filing soon | Filing Season Review |
| Many blank cost basis cells | Cost Basis Reconstruction |
After the session
You keep the worksheet on your PC. We retain working copies only as long as needed for follow-ups you request, as described in our privacy notice.
