Choosing KRW conversion notes for a personal tax year

ยท 7 min read

Korean filers often ask which rate to apply to a disposal priced in a foreign quote currency. We do not publish a single official rate table. Instead, during an estimate session we record the conversion approach you can support with bank or exchange evidence.

Document what you can prove

If your KRW deposit or withdrawal history lines up with a trade date, that trail usually beats a generic average. When no bank line exists, we note the source of the rate used on the worksheet and keep that note next to the disposal row.

Consistency matters more than perfection

Switching methods mid-year without explanation creates more trouble than a slightly conservative approach applied evenly. The assumptions section of your estimate file should state the method in one short paragraph.

Our worksheet is preparation material. Your licensed tax agent may adjust conversion treatment. Bring the assumptions note so that conversation starts from a shared baseline rather than from a blank screen.
